About OrbitAID
OrbitAID Aerospace is an on-orbit servicing and refueling startup building the infrastructure to extend satellite life, enable in-space logistics, and support a growing commercial and defense space ecosystem. As we scale our engineering, business development, and policy operations, we're looking for a System Administrator to build and maintain the IT backbone that keeps the company running securely and reliably.
Role Summary
The System Administrator will be responsible for managing OrbitAID's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, endpoints, cloud environments, and internal systems. This role is critical to ensuring operational continuity across engineering, BD, policy, and PR teams, while maintaining the security posture expected of a company operating in aerospace and defense-adjacent domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Administration Across Engineering Teams — Deploy, license, and manage engineering software and company-wide systems (Google Workspace/Microsoft 365, CRM, PM tools); coordinate with team leads on tooling needs and licensing.
- Infrastructure (Server, Cloud & Network) — Build and maintain servers, virtualization, and cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP), plus LAN/WAN, VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs, including segmented networks for sensitive systems.
- System Maintenance & Reliability — Manage patching, OS hardening, backups, and disaster recovery; maintain uptime via proactive monitoring and alerting.
- Cybersecurity — Implement endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and IAM (AD/Entra ID/Okta) with least-privilege segregation across Commercial, Defense, Policy, and PR functions; ensure export-control-sensitive compliance.
- IT Lifecycle & Documentation — Manage onboarding/offboarding, endpoint provisioning, and access audits; maintain runbooks/SOPs and provide escalation-level technical support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of system/network administration experience, with strong Windows Server and Linux proficiency
- Practical experience with virtualization and at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls) and IAM systems (AD/Entra ID/Okta)
- Scripting/automation skills (Bash, PowerShell, or Python) and strong cross-stack troubleshooting ability
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with export control frameworks (ITAR-adjacent or Indian defense procurement compliance)
- Experience supporting engineering-heavy environments
- Relevant certifications (CCNA, Network+/Security+, Azure/AWS Administrator, or RHCSA)
What We Offer
- Opportunity to build foundational IT infrastructure for a fast-growing space-tech company
- Cross-functional exposure to commercial, defense, and policy operations in the space sector
- Collaborative, mission-driven work environment
- Competitive compensation commensurate with experience
